A group claiming to be representing the Coalition of Northern Muslims in a letter addressed to Daar Communications PLC, owners of Africa Independent Television, AIT and Raypower FM are threatening to attack the media organisation.
NewsWireNGR recalls AIT airing a sponsored anti-Buhari documentary just like every other Nigerian station has been doing ahead of the 2015 general elections.
The angry group according to the tone of it’s letter, promises to “extinguish” the media organisation from Northern Nigeria, especially the Federal Capital Territory Abuja, should the All Progressives Congress candidate, Buhari loses the elections.
The Letter as seen below reads, “Most Nigerians and Foreigners are working very hard to change and deliver Nigeria from incompetence and visionless Leadership” The statement signed by Abdulkadir Idris reads.
The statement continued, “yet African Independent Television – AIT has spent the last couple of months running media campaign to undo the will of the Nigerian people”
Idris said, “We will not sit down and watch AIT destroy the image that General Buhari have spent the last fifty years (50yrs) building with integrity and honour”
“We inform you that the only thing that can deliver you and your investments (in Northern Nigeria) from a violent and drastic extinction is the victory of General Buhari at the forthcoming general election.
“Otherwise, we will strike and extinguish your very presence from Northern Nigeria (including Abuja)
“This time you have crossed a very deadly line” the letter concluded.
In 2012, Nigeria’s National Daily Newspaper, THISDAY was warned and subsequently attacked by insurgents. The Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati Wal-Jihad, popularly known as Boko Haram, in it’s explanation said it attacked THISDAY to send a strong message to the media that it would no longer condone reports misrepresenting it in the press, or blaming it for acts it knows nothing about.
Abul Qaqa, spokesperson for the sect told Premium Times, in an exclusive interview, that his organisation was fed up with the deliberate misinformation being peddled about it in the Nigerian and foreign media.
