While still in school, Pype joined a 30-man classical ensemble in the 1990s to begin his musical career.

Pype, formerly known as Majek, performed with the group in several places, including Eagle Square in Abuja. He left the band to pursue his other musical passions.

He had made a name for himself as a reggae/dancehall performer by 2005. His musical influences include Sizzla, Barrington Levy, Bob Marley, Sean Paul, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, Barry White, Majek Fashek, Barry White, Supercat, and Don Carlos.

His song “Keep it Cool” was featured in the 2007 American television program “The Shield.” His songs Champion (2012) and Give it to Me (2012) were popular across the country (2009). Numerous awards have been bestowed upon General, but the Channel O Music Video Award for Best Dancehall/Ragga Video in 2010 stands out.
