Olayiwola Ibrahim Majekodunmi, popularly known by his stage name General Pype, is a Nigerian reggae and dancehall musician. 

He was born on the 9th of October 1981. General PYPE is 41 years old as of 2022.

The talented singer crafts distinctive sounds that transcend the African continent and resemble Jamaican music. He describes his music as reggae fusion, fusing hip-hop, rock-pop, and R&B elements with dancehall and reggae riddims.

The acronym “Pype,” which stands for Prolific Youth Positive Entertainer, was given to him by his manager.

While still in school, Pype joined a 30-man classical ensemble in the 1990s to begin his musical career. 

Pype, formerly known as Majek, performed with the group in several places, including Eagle Square in Abuja. He left the band to pursue his other musical passions. 

He had made a name for himself as a reggae/dancehall performer by 2005. His musical influences include Sizzla, Barrington Levy, Bob Marley, Sean Paul, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, Barry White, Majek Fashek, Barry White, Supercat, and Don Carlos.

His song “Keep it Cool” was featured in the 2007 American television program “The Shield.” His songs Champion (2012) and Give it to Me (2012) were popular across the country (2009). Numerous awards have been bestowed upon General, but the Channel O Music Video Award for Best Dancehall/Ragga Video in 2010 stands out.

Through effective partnerships, he is successfully mainstreaming dancehall and reggae music in Nigeria while maintaining the unwavering individuality of a dynamic artist. 

He has had the privilege to work with top music giants in nigeria like Sunny Neji in the song, ‘Crush’, hip-hop diva, Sasha (“Strong thin“), Niyola (“Mo Ranyan“), MI (“teaser“), and Sheyman (“Showa remix“).

He earned the title of “song stylist” thanks to his Midas touch. Since then, music lovers have been hypnotized by his contagious enthusiasm on more than 120 collaborations, most of which he free-styled between 2008 and 2009. Music that “makes people think, dance, and motivates them” is his aim.

Later, he quit Storm 360 Records to start his own record company, Obalende Records, named after the region where he was born and raised. Located in a remote area of Lagos State, Obalende is a suburb.
