Biography
Simidele Adeife Omonla Adeagbo is a Nigerian skeleton racer, public speaker and marketing expert.
She was born on July 29, 1981, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Simisola is the first Nigerian and first African female skeleton athlete. She was also the first black female Olympian in the sport.
The athlete won the woman’s mono bob event in the 2022 EuroCup, held in Germany, making her the first athlete from Africa to win an international sled race
Career
Sinmidele once acted as Serena Williams‘ Nike body duplicate at a Nike kit unveiling.
She has also worked as a marketing manager in South Africa for Nike.
Sports Career
Adeagbo began as a track and field athlete in her high school days. She held the University of Kentucky’s triple jump record and was a four-time NCAA All-American.
She stopped competing in track & field in 2008.
Simidele became interested in skeletons after learning that the Nigeria bobsled team was competing for a spot in the Olympics. She tried out for the team for the first time in July 2017, when she was required to compete in a skeleton sled rather than a bobsled.
Adeagbo began skeleton in September 2017. Nike, her company, sponsored her in the skeleton.
As a member of the Nigerian skeleton team at the 2018 Winter Olympics, Sinmidele became the first Nigerian to participate in the Winter Games.

Achievements
Simidele developed a signature master class to empower girls through sport and foster leadership qualities.
In collaboration with a number of organisations, including YEDI (Youth Empowerment Development Initiative), Nike Made to Play, and Grassroot Soccer, she launched the program in Nigeria, South Africa, Kenya, and Morocco.
Additionally, she represents the Malala Fund, established by Nobel Prize winner and advocates for girls’ education Malala Yousafzai. She has teamed up with the organisation to raise money and get the word out to millions about the importance of empowering girls.
Simidele was also selected as a member of the Obama Foundation Leaders inaugural class in recognition of her work driving positive change across Africa.
