Biography
Nathaniel Bassey was born to Joshua Bassey, a minister in The Apostolic Church Bashua Assembly from Ikot Ofon Ikono, on August 28th, 1978.
Nathaniel is a gospel singer, instrumentalist, and pastor. He is famous for his hit tracks Imela, Olowogbogboro, and Onise Iyanu, a common song used in churches across Nigeria.
Nat is also a talented instrumentalist who captivated audiences with his dexterity with the trumpet.
He is also a Youth Pastor and music director in the Redeemed Christian Church of God.
Education
After his elementary and secondary education, Nathaniel proceeded to study Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Lagos before leaving to go abroad to study Politics and International Relations at the University of London.
Career
Nat began his career by playing jazz at parties and shows, This led him to join Spectrum 4, a top jazz quartet in Lagos
Nathaniel Bassey reached a new level of born-again experience with the mentorship and supervision of the late Pastor Eskor Mfon, the former Pastor of The Redeemed Christian Church Of God, City Of David Parish, and a gospel music ministry was formed.
He rose to prominence as a jazzman when he got an invitation from Elder Steve Rhodes to lead an orchestra, THE STEVE RHODES ORCHESTRA.
Nat served as band leader and lead trumpeter for two years before continuing with his music career.
Nathaniel Bassey’s outstanding trumpet-playing talent quickly drew the attention of prominent musicians and international organizations who wanted him to play the trumpet with/for them. Teemac, Ayo Bankole Jr, Cobhams Asuquo, Wole Oni, Yinka Davies, Adlan Cruise, Funsho Ogundipe, Peter King, Sotiris Papadopoulos, Paul Petersen, The French Cultural Centre, American International School, to name a few, were among those enthralled by his distinctive trumpeting abilities.
To further develop his skill, Nat pursued formal training to improve his musical skills by opting to study music and music business at Middlesex University Summer School in the United Kingdom.

Nathaniel Bassey is married to Sarah Bassey, and they are blessed with two children.

Controversy
Nathaniel was caught in a controversy with popular OAP, Daddy Freeze, when he prayed for a woman whose husband deserted eight years ago to return.
Reacting to this on his Instagram page, Daddy Freeze wrote, “Nathaniel Bassey doesn’t seem to have a clue what Christianity is about. “If Christ didn’t find husbands for the two closest women to him in the scriptures; Mary and Martha and he didn’t pray for the 1st husband of the Samaritan woman in John 4:18, who had 5 previous husbands to return to her, then this is a fruitless unchristian prayer” .
