Ade Ameh/Sola Onayiga: Reactions as Nollywood loses two veteran actresses in one night

The Nigerian movie industry, Nollywood, has lost two veteran actresses in one night. Ade Ameh of The Johnsons and Oluwasolamipe Onayiga aka Ireti of Fuji House of Commotion were reported dead on Monday.

NewsWireNGR had earlier reported that the president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Emeka Rollas confirmed Ada Ameh’s death.

Rollas said, “It is sad but she is dead, I do not really have the details at the moment.”

However, according to sources, Ada Ameh slumped and was rushed to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation’s hospital but died before she got to the building and was pronounced dead upon her arrival.

It should be recalled that, on the 15th of June, the thespian revealed via her verified Instagram account that she had a mental breakdown and was being sued by a firm for not doing a task she was meant to do.

There have been reactions to the reports of the deaths.

Do2dtun said; “Ada Ameh’s death is so painful. One of My fav on The Johnsons especially when she says “a lucky lo lo” “Apor” .. she just lost a child and her now.. May God put us through our tough times. This one is very painful”

Big Brother Naija star, Saskay reacted; “I met this woman once on set and she was so sweet like she had known me before. All I could think of was the grief she was experiencing, cause I had seen several videos where she spoke about her mental health. This is really sad. Rest well Ada Ameh”.

Dr PenKing said; “Before 2020, Ada Ameh lost 6 of her siblings to death (3 brothers, 3 Sisters). On October 20,2020,she lost her only child, a beautiful daughter which she gave birth to at Age 14. She started battling with ill-health. In March 2022,she lost yet another sister. Life is very cruel”.

Solomon Buchi said; “Ada Ameh asked for my number months ago and we spoke. Her death is shocking. It’s been confirmed by the Actors Guild according to Punch. Imagine dying shortly after losing your only child. She was in pain — depression and trauma. Life is ephemeral. May we live our best each day.”
