Former Senator Elisha Abbo has turned himself in to the Nigeria Police Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Abuja following allegations that he raped a 13-year-old secondary school student.
The alleged incident reportedly occurred on June 29, 2025, at Senator Abbo’s residence in the Katampe area of Abuja. As of the time of this report, the former senator remained in custody at the FCID.
Allegations of Cover-Up and Bribery
The parents of the minor informed SaharaReporters that they were visited by a high-profile politician, former Senator and Adamawa governorship candidate Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed “Binani,” who allegedly tried to persuade them not to disclose the scandal.
The parents further claimed that following the incident, Senator Abbo repeatedly sent money to the girl’s father in an attempt to silence the matter and prevent its public revelation.
Controversial Past
The former lawmaker is no stranger to controversy, with his political career marked by several public scandals:
- Assault Conviction: Abbo was previously arrested for physically assaulting a vendor at a sex shop in Abuja.
- Blackmail Claim: More recently, a married woman publicly accused him of blackmail involving a sex tape.
The current, more serious allegation of statutory rape has drawn renewed public scrutiny and demands for a thorough police investigation.
