Bandits kill Professor Saidu, deputy VC of Usmanu Danfodiyo University

Professor Yusuf Saidu, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research Innovation and Development, Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto, has been confirmed dead.

The don according to a statement by the university was killed on Monday by bandits around Kucheri of Zamfara state.

He was on his way to represent the school’s Vice-Chancellor on an official duty in Kaduna state.

Authentic sources confirmed that Prof. Yusuf Saidu with his driver; while travelling happened to stumble upon an ill-fated moment.

As the exact time of their passage coincides with a moment bandits were being chased by soldiers from the bush.

On reaching the highway they saw his car (An official blue-colored HILUX), the bandits mistook his car for that of the Police and they immediately opened fire on them killing him instantly and injuring his driver.

“May Allah accept his repentance and forgive his shortcomings, he has been a frontline line leader in shaping UDUS for the greater good,” the school said.
