In football or soccer depending on your English style, a hat-trick refers to a player scoring three goals in a single game.

It is a notable accomplishment, celebrated by players, fans, and commentators alike. A super hat-trick means the player scored 4 goals in a single match and a golden hat-trick refers to scoring all 3 goals scored in the second half.

The Premier League is known for its tough defence style and scoring a hat-trick is not an easy feat in the league.

Despite this, some players have done the impossible to score numerous hat-tricks during their career in the league.

Below are the top players with the most hat-tricks in the Premier League:

1. Sergio Aguero – 12

Sergio Agüero, also known as Kun Agüero, was a phenomenal Argentine striker widely considered one of the best of all time, particularly in the Premier League. He holds the record for the Manchester City player with the highest club score.

Aguero during his time in the premier league scored 12 hat-tricks making him the player with the most hat-trick goals in the league.

He is the fifth all-time Premier League goalscorer with 184 goals and the highest non-English scorer in Premier League history.

Aguero briefly played for Barcelona after departing from Man City but was forced to retire in 2021 at the age of 33 due to heart problems.

Alan Shearer is an English player and premier league legend, particularly known for his incredible goalscoring record and loyalty to his hometown club, Newcastle.

Throughout his career, he played for Southampton, Blackburn Rovers, and Newcastle United.

He holds the record for the premier league player with the most hat-tricks until Kun Aguero dethroned him. Alan scored 11 hat-tricks during his career making him the second player with the most hat-tricks in Premier League history.

He is nicknamed “God” by the Anfield faithful.

Liverpool’s second-highest scorer in the Premier League, the eighth-highest goalscorer in League history, and the third player with the most hat-tricks.

He scored 9 hat-tricks in his premier league career. During his career in the league, Alan Shearer played for Leeds United, Manchester City, Cardiff City, and Blackburn Rovers.

4. Michael Owen – 8

Michael Owen is a phenomenal English player who was dubbed the “wonder boy” because of his exceptional talent at a young age. He scored an incredible 12 goals in just 8 games for England’s U15 team.

He became a Liverpool legend with his dramatic last-minute winner against Arsenal in the 2001 FA Cup final.

His solo goal against Argentina in the 1998 World Cup is considered one of the greatest England goals ever scored. Owen’s achievements weren’t limited to England. He was included in Pelé’s FIFA 100 list of the greatest living players in 2004.

He scored 8 hat-trick during his premier league career before moving to Barcelona where he played alongside Lionel Messi and formed a remarkable attacking partnership.

6. Harry Kane – 8

Harry Kane, although one of the unlucky players when it comes to winning trophy is a world-class English striker currently playing for Bayern Munich.

Most of his career so far was spent at Tottenham before his transfer to Bayern Munich.

He is Tottenham’s all-time top scorer with 213 (2009-2023), surpassing Teddy Sheringham’s record. Kane won the Premier League Golden Boot a remarkable three times (2016-17, 2018-19, 2020-21).

He won the Golden Boot at the 2018 World Cup, where England reached the semifinals and currently holds the record as England’s all-time top scorer with 62 goals.

He is young player (born July 21, 2000) with lots of future potential. Halland has scored more hat-tricks than his age, 29 (senior hat-tricks), 9 of them for Manchester City and 6 in the Premier League, making him the 8th/9th Premier League player with the most hat-tricks (as of May 14, 2025).

With his present form, Haaland is expected to contest the number 1 spot if he retains his performance and remains in the Premier League.
