Auto crashes: FRSC mandates installation of speed limit devices for motorists

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ondo Command, on Tuesday, restated its resolve to prosecute motorists without the speed limit devices installed in their vehicles.

Mr Ezekiel SonAllah, State Sector Commander, said this in Akure when confirming a fatal accident on Tuesday morning that claimed three lives while four others sustained injuries

SonAllah, who explained that any driver caught over speeding would be sanctioned, said that the accident was caused as a result of loss of control on the part of the driver of the vehicles involved.

He said that the accident occurred at 10:20a.m., at Nibanola area on the Ondo/Ore Expressway in Ondo East Local Government Area of the state.

The sector commander said that the accident involved one unregistered Mack truck belonging to the Nigeria Breweries and a Volkswagen Jetta car marked BUR 852TS.

According to SonAllah, two female adults and one female child died on spot while one male and three female adults were injured

The sector commander said that five female adults, one female child and one male adult were involved in the accident.

SonAllah said that the dead victims had been deposited at the general hospital mortuary in Ondo town while the injured were taken to hospital by first responders.

“So, I’m appealing to motorists to avoid the temptation of speeding and we are insisting that commercial vehicle must install speed limit device in their vehicles,

“Moreover, our drivers need to be patient whenever they are on the wheel to avoid crashes especially on highways,” the FRSC commander said.
