Biography
Mr Kennedy Uzoka is a mechanical engineer turned banker. He is the immediate past General Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the United Bank of Africa (UBA).
His appointment as UBA CEO became effective on August 01, 2016.
When Kennedy Uzoka was appointed to succeed Philips Oduoza as Group Managing Director of United Bank for Africa Plc, the Chairman Sir Tony Elumelu made a striking statement in his speech.
“Kennedy brings an extremely strong skill set and is ideally positioned to lead UBA in its next
phase of growth. His most recent experience in managing the Group’s increasingly important
African business, is particularly relevant, as we all work to build one of the leading financial
services franchises in Africa,” Elumelu said.
Upon resignation as the GMD/CEO of the Group, Kennedy Uzoka, now serves as the Chairman of the Chairman of the UBA Group/
Early life
Kennedy Uzoka, a mechanical engineer started his career in the Head, South Bank. He was responsible for driving consumer, commercial and public sector businesses in the South Bank with over 153 business offices across the Eastern, Southern, Mid-Western and Western States of Nigeria
Marriage
Kenny Uzoka is married to Princess Lotanna Uzoka. The couple is blessed with four children.
Education
He holds a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Benin, South-south Nigeria and an MBA from the University of Lagos, South-west Nigeria.
He is an alumnus of Harvard Business School(AMP) in Boston USA, the International Institute of Management Development (IMD) in Lausanne, Switzerland and the London Business School, United Kingdom.
Career
He started his career at UBA as Head, South Bank in April 2006. Uzoka rose through the ranks to Deputy Managing Director in November 2011.
He was promoted to the position of the Deputy Managing Director/CEO in May 2014.
As the UBA Group’s Deputy Managing Director and CEO, UBA Africa managing the country subsidiaries across 18 countries in Africa as well as supervising 3 key strategic support areas in Digital Banking, Information Technology and Personal Banking.
Uzoka served as the Group’s Managing Director/CEO from August 2016 to August 2022 when he was replaced by Oliver Alawuba.
Awards
In 2019, Kennedy Uzoka was crowned Business Day’s Bank Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Year.

Kennedy Uzoka or K.U as he is fondly called loves cars. According to reports, his garage in Osborne Foreshore, Ikoyi, is a den of engines and tires, all of the best and latest kind.
The Rolls Royce brand is reportedly one of his favourite babies, and the sheer costs of these babies is allegedly enough to sink most national economies.
K.U’s garage is said to be so intimidating that many even mistake him for a automobile dealer of the super 1st class type.
During his tenure as the GMD/CEO of UBA, Kennedy Uzoka was one of the highest paid CEOs in Nigeria.
As of 2019, Uzoka earned a total of N469 million ($1.2 million) in salary and other benefits.
Mr. Uzoka earned a sum of N128 million as emoluments from UBA in 2022.
