Meet Dahane Beida, Referee for Nigeria Vs Ivory Coast AFCON 2023 Final

The Confederation of African Football, CAF, has announced the match officials for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations final.

Referee Dahane Beida from Mauritania will be the man in the middle for Sunday’s game.

The first assistant referee will be Jerson Emiliano Dos Santos of Angola.

Diana Chikotesha has been appointed as the second assistant referee for the match.

The fourth official will be Morocco’s Bouchra Karboubi.

The final on Sunday will kick off at 9 pm WAT at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Abidjan.

Who is Dahane Beida?

Dahane Beida is a FIFA-accredited referee from Mauritania. He was born on December 31, 1991, and is currently 32 years old.

The AFCON 2023 final will be the third match he will officiate in the tournament. He had earlier officiated the match between Angola and Namibia which ended 3-0 in favour of Angola.

Beida in the match issued two yellow cards and two red cards.

He also officiated the match between Egypt and Mozambique which ended in a 2-2 draw. Dahane Beida issued 4 yellow cards in the game.

The AFCON officiating has so far been praised by football pundits, hence, all eyes is on Dahane Beida to put a perfect finish to the tournament.

Recall in 1988, Nigeria lost 1-0 to Cameroon in the final, with referee Idrissa Sarr from Mauritania controversially ruling out a Henry Nwosu header for offside.
