Borno governor, Zulum’s media strategist, Isa Gusau, is dead

Mallam Isa Gusau, the Special Assistant to Borno State Governor on Media and Strategy, Babagana Zulum, is dead.

Gusau who was also the spokesman to the present Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima when he was the governor of Borno State was on admission at an Indian hospital for over a month now battling for him life.

Sources close to the deceased Media Strategist said he passed on at a specialist hospital in New Delhi after the protracted illness.

The source said: “We have lost Isa to the cold hands of death, he was unconscious for about three days, we were all praying for his recovery but it was quite unfortunate that we lost him this evening (yesterday) in the hospital in New Delhi, India.”

Gusau was said to be actively involved in the publicity of the governor right from his sick bed in India, issuing statements to promote his boss.

Gusau’s career as a media aide begun with his appointment by the then Governor of Borno State, Senator Kashim Shettima, who is now Nigeria’s Vice President.

He was after the tenure of Governor Shettima re-appointed by the incumbent Governor Babagana Umara Zulum in 2019, a position he held until his demise on Thursday.

The late media strategist was a hardworking fellow who ensured that governance and image of his principal were properly and greatly projected to the general public.

He was a former reporter with the Daily Trust Newspapers in Borno State before his appointment as media aide by former Governor Shettima.
