Fresh protest broke out again at Kurna quarters along Katsina road in Kano Wednesday morning over the killing of a teenager by police personnel.

The incident triggered tension amid an alleged planned demonstration by a political group against the judgement of the Appeal Court on the Kano governorship election.

The Guardian gathered that trouble ensued in the early hours on Wednesday when some gangs of political thugs clashed, disrupting the peaceful atmosphere in the area.

The protesters who barricaded the busy Kano-Katsina-Daura highway for several hours caused untold hardship to commuters and motorists who got stuck in the trouble zone.

When contacted, spokesman of Kano police command, SP Abdullahai Haruna Kiyawa confirmed the development. He pledged to issue official reaction to the development.
