Philip Shaibu, says ex-Governor Adams Oshiomhole is still his father despite all that transpired between them

Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, expressed that despite the events that unfolded during the 2020 governorship election, ex-Governor Adams Oshiomhole is still like a father to him.

During an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily programme, Shaibu mentioned that he intends to apologize to Oshiomhole for the inappropriate words he used against him during the election.

The rift between Shaibu and Governor Godwin Obaseki began when Shaibu congratulated Oshiomhole on his senatorial election victory in 2023.

It is worth noting that Shaibu and Obaseki were once allies of Oshiomhole, but their political association deteriorated during the election due to allegations of ‘godfatherism’ against Oshiomhole, which he denied.

Despite the support of Oshiomhole and other prominent APC figures, Obaseki and Shaibu emerged victorious in the election, defeating the APC candidate, Osagie Ize-Iyamu.
