Who is Balarabe Abbas Musa?
Balarabe Abbas Lawal is a Nigerian politician who was nominated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as Minister to replace Mallam Nasir el-Rufai as ministerial nominee from Kaduna state.
El-Rufai was earlier nominated by the President but had his nomination turned down by the Senate after the screening exercise in August.
Balarabe Abbas, is a former Secretary to the Government of Kaduna State.
Balarabe Abbas Musa, simply referred to as Balarabe Abbas and by some as Balarabe Musa, should not be confused with Alhaji Abdulkadir Balarabe Musa, a former governor of Kaduna state who died in November 2022 at 85.
Abbas Lawal Balarabe was born on February 5, 1958. He is currently 65 years old as at February 5, 2023.
Balarabe Abbas hails from Kachia Local Government, Kaduna State.
There is a public record of Balarabe Abbas’s wife and children. However, he is presumed to have a family of his own.
After his secondary school education, Balarabe Abbas gained admission to study Political Science at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 1978. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science (BSc.) degree in Political Science in 1981.
He enrolled in a Master’s degree program in the same school in 1984 and in 1986 obtained an M.Sc in Political Science from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

Between 2015 and 2023, Balarabe served as Secretary to the State Government of Kaduna under Nasir El-Rufai’s administration.
He chaired a 65-man transition committee ahead of the swearing-in of Senator Uba Sani, as governor of Kaduna State on May 29.
It is impossible to predict Balarabe Abbas Lawal’s net worth accurately. But as a Nigerian politician, he is expected to do well for himself, better than a typical civil servant.
Balarabe, who President Bola Tinubu selected to replace the former governor of Kaduna State, Nasir el-Rufai, suddenly slumped in the Senate Chamber during his October 4, 2023 screening.
After Balarabe concluded his presentation before the lawmakers, he suddenly collapsed as one of the Kaduna senators was commending his efforts.
Following Balarabe’s collapse, Senate President GodsWill Akpabio raised his voice, urgently ordering, “Retrieve water and sugar! Dial Dr. Musa.”
Immediately afterwards, Akpabio convened a closed-door session.
