George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), has called upon Nigerians to prioritize peaceful coexistence as a cornerstone for the nation’s rapid development.

Akume conveyed this message on Thursday while attending an award ceremony organized by Arewa Youth Advocacy for Good Governance (AYAGG) in Abuja.

Speaking through his Chief of Staff, Chris Tarkar, Akume emphasized the myriad challenges faced by the administration led by Bola Tinubu.

He underscored the government’s concerted efforts to address these issues and stressed the critical importance of unity among Nigerians, transcending ethnic or religious affiliations, to forge a stronger nation.

Akume shared, “Our being Nigerians is not a matter of choice, but a divine design by the Almighty. Our tribes and backgrounds were assigned by His wisdom.

He also destined us to be part of this great nation. You could have been an Igbo in America or a Hausa in China, but fate has placed us here. Recognizing this truth, it’s incumbent upon us to collaborate.”

He further expressed, “While our cultures and religions may differ, our shared belief in the unity, purpose, and potential of our nation can facilitate the creation of a remarkable Nigeria. The divisive politics based on religion or ethnicity will not lead us towards progress.”

Akume’s call for unity and peaceful coexistence echoes the sentiment that national progress hinges on the collective efforts of all Nigerians, transcending differences and fostering a shared commitment to the betterment of the nation.
