Assistant Commissioner of Police Olumuyiwa Adejobi Reappointed as Force’s Public Relations Officer

In a significant development, Assistant Commissioner of Police Olumuyiwa Adejobi has been reinstated as the official spokesperson for the Nigerian Police Force.

This announcement comes on the heels of his recent promotion to the rank of ACP (Assistant Commissioner of Police) by the esteemed Police Service Commission. The decision was formalized through a posting communication dated August 8, 2023, with reference number TH.5361/FS/FHQ/ABJ/V.4/649, as confirmed by the office of the Force Secretary.

The diligent Administrative Officer of the Force Public Relations Department, SP Anjuguri Manza, conveyed this notable decision through a correspondence acquired on Wednesday night. This decision, emanating from the acting Inspector-General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, reinforces Adejobi’s pivotal role in shaping the Force’s public image and fostering a citizen-focused approach to public relations. Egbetokun’s directive aims to amplify the achievements attained under Adejobi’s tenure, particularly in his commendable efforts to engage with the media and spearhead targeted community interactions.

Adejobi, an accomplished professional with an academic background steeped in knowledge, graduated from the University of Ibadan with a combined honours degree in Archaeology and Geography. He further honed his expertise by securing a Master’s Degree in Peace and Conflict Studies from the same esteemed institution. His remarkable journey within the Nigerian Police Force has been punctuated by various significant roles.

From his tenure as the Police Public Relations Officer at the Ogun State Police Command between 2008 and 2016 to his subsequent service at the PPRO Zone 2 Headquarters, Onikan, Lagos, in 2016, Adejobi has displayed unwavering dedication. Notably, he occupied the position of PPRO at the Lagos State Police Command between September 2020 and August 2021. Following this, he seamlessly transitioned to the role of Deputy Force Public Relations Officer at Force Headquarters in Abuja in 2021. In recent times, Adejobi was entrusted with the mantle of the Force Public Relations Officer, a role in which he exhibited utmost professionalism and skill.

Adejobi’s distinguished career has led him to become a valued member of numerous professional bodies and esteemed associations, including the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, the International Public Relations Association, Pointman Leadership Institute in the USA, the International Association of Chiefs of Police in the USA, and the Institute of Corporate Administration in Nigeria, among others.

As Olumuyiwa Adejobi steps into this renewed role as the Nigerian Police Force’s Public Relations Officer, his unwavering commitment and impressive track record continue to position him as a pivotal advocate for transparency, community engagement, and effective public communication within the force.
