Examinations are formal tests conducted by a school or government authorities to test participants’ knowledge of a topic. In Nigeria, for instance, the West African Examination Council (WAEC) conducts the West African Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) to examine high school students before they are issued the High School Leaving Certificate.

Below are the toughest examinations in the world

1. China – Gaokao Exam

The Gaokao exam grade is the lone criterion for admission into Chinese universities.

2. India – IIT JEE Exam

The Joint Entrance Examination is an engineering entrance assessment conducted for admission to various engineering colleges in India.

It is constituted by two different examinations: the JEE-Main and the JEE-Advanced.

3. India – UPSC Exam

The Civil Services Examination is a national competitive examination in India conducted by the Union Public Service Commission for recruitment to higher Civil Services of the Government of India, including the Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign Service, and Indian Police Service. 

Every year approximately 10,00,000 students appear for the exam. However, the overall UPSC pass percentage of candidates is 0.2%.
