Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has made an appeal to the Nigeria Military, urging them to bring back the self-acclaimed Biafra Prime Minister, Simon Ekpa, to the South East region to participate in the sit-at-home order he issued.

Uzodimma made this appeal during a meeting with the new general officer commanding 82 Division, Hassan Dada, at the government house in Owerri.

Simon Ekpa’s two-week sit-at-home directive has been causing unrest in the entire South-East region. In response, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the socio-cultural organization of Igbos in Nigeria, held discussions with Mr. President Bola Tinubu and some traditional rulers to address the situation and find ways to contain Ekpa’s influence and tackle insecurity.

Governor Uzodimma, expressing concern for his people, presented an alternative solution by requesting the military to extradite Simon Ekpa. He emphasized the urgency of addressing the popular sit-at-home order, highlighting the impact it is having on the region.

In response to Governor Uzodimma’s appeal, Simon Ekpa, via his Twitter handle, clarified that the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, should not be associated with any actions taken by Biafrans. Ekpa stated that the purpose of disassociating from orders from the DSS dungeon is to ensure the safety of their leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. He urged that any actions undertaken by Biafrans for the freedom of Biafra and its prisoners of conscience should not be linked to Nnamdi Kanu.

The situation remains tense as the authorities and the people of the region navigate through the complexities surrounding the sit-at-home order and its implications for the security and stability of the South-East.
