As of 2020, 24.2 percent of the global urban population lived in slums. In Sub-Saharan Africa, slum population amounted to 50.2 percent of the total population which is the highest out of all major regions.

In Australia and New Zealand, on the other hand, the urban population living in slums was zero in 2020.
