Panic as two ex-commissioners die within three days in Kano

Two former commissioners from Kano State, who worked under the administration of the immediate past Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, have been confirmed dead within the last three days.

Alhassan Muhammad Dawaki and Barrister Zubaida Damakka, former commissioners for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, and Budget and Economic Planning, respectively, passed away on Friday.

Dawaki, aged 79, died after a short illness, leaving behind wives and 15 children.

Abubakar Aminu Ibrahim, a former Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Social Media and an associate of Damakka, confirmed her death.

Damakka died in Abuja following a brief illness and is survived by a husband and three children.

Their funeral was held in Kano on Sunday, following Islamic traditions.

A statement from the Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Ibrahim Garba Shu’aibu, characterized Dawaki as a respected and influential figure whose sudden passing has created a void in many hearts.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf recognized the significant loss caused by Dawaki’s death.

He extended prayers for strength and resilience to the grieving family, offering them comfort during their period of mourning.
