Senate President Godswill Akpabio announced the selection of standing committees (complete list)

The Senate has constituted a selection body for composition of its standing committees.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio announced the selection committee during plenary, yesterday.

Akpabio said, following successful inauguration of the 10th Senate and emergence of principal officers, it was expedient to set up the committees.

The body comprises two presiding officers and all eight principal officers.

He said: “In line with Standing Order 95(a), as amended, I, hereby, announce composition of the selection committee of the Senate as Godswill Akpabio (chairman) and Jibrin Barau as vice chairman.

“Others are Opeyemi Bamidele (APC, Ekiti), Mohammed Ndume (APC, Borno), Dave Umahi (APC, Ebonyi), Lola Ashiru (APC, Kwara), Simon Mwadkwon (PDP, Plateau), Oyewumi Olalere (PDP, Osun), Darlington, Nwokocha (LP, Abia) and Rufai Hanga (NNPP, Kano).”

Akpabio also named Garba Maidoki (PDP, Kebbi) as chairman, committee on legislative compliance, and Ede Dafinone (APC, Delta) as vice chairman.

The committee on media has Adeyemi Adaramodu (APC, Ekiti) as chairman and Salisu Afolabi (APC, Ogun) as vice chairman.

The Senate President further said: “In accordance with Standing Order 95 (b), as amended, under sundry matters and in anticipation of the possibility of receiving supplementary budgetary application, the selection committee has also resolved to set up the committee on appropriation. Solomon Olamilekan (APC, Ogun) will be the chairman while Mohammed Ndume is vice chairman.

“Committee on rules and business has Titus Zam (Benue, APC) as chairman and Oyewumi Olalere (PDP, Osun) as vice chairman. Services committee has Sunday Karimi (APC, Kogi) as chairman and Eteng Williams (APC, Cross River) as vice chairman.

“Ethics, code of conduct and public petitions has Okechukwu Ezea (LP, Enugu) as chairman and Khalid Mustapha (PDP, Kaduna) as vice chairman.
