We don’t have department like Cyber Crime — EFCC

The Economic Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) has denied a public notice warning citizens about the “Mobile Sim Card 5G service”.

NewsWireNGR reports that a “fake” press release purportedly signed by the Cyber Crime Department of the anti-graft agency advised citizens, “some miscreants of cybercrime will call your mobile and you to update your Sim card from 4G to 5G and you will get an OTP.

“PLEASE, DO NOT provide the OTP sent to you.

Denying the “Announcement for Public notice”, EFCC in a statement posted on its official Twitter page warned; “Do not be deceived, no department like Cyber Crime exist at the EFCC. Be circumspect of the activities of fraudsters who devise strategies to scam the unsuspecting public. For those behind this fake news, be assured, your days are numbered!”
