Court remands man for allegedly pouring hot tea on another

A Sharia Court in Kano State on Friday, ordered that an unemployed man, Usman Abdullahi,  who pleaded guilty to poring hot tea on another man, be remanded in a correction centre.

The judge, Malam Umar Lawal-Abubakar, who gave the order, adjourned the matter until July 15 for summary trial.

Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Insp Abdul Wada, told the court that Auwal Isma’il, the complainant reported the matter at the Fagge police station on June 21.

He alleged that the defendant poured the tea on Isma’il following an altercation in a black tea vendor’s shop.

Wada said as a result, the complainant sustained burns.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 120 and 158 of the Penal Code.
