Meet Professor Grace Umezurike, first female SSG in Ebonyi

Professor Grace Umezurike has become the first female Secretary to the State Government (SSG) in Ebonyi state.

She was appointed by the newly sworn-in state governor, Francis Nwifuru.

The appointment was contained in a statement signed by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Dr Monday Uzor and made available to newsmen on Friday night.

According to Uzor, the appointment is with immediate effect.

“She will be sworn-in on Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at the executive council chambers of the government house, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State” the statement read.

Prior to her appointment, Prof. Umezurike was a senior lecturer in the Department of Philosophy and Religion at Ebonyi State University (EBSU).

She is also the wife of the immediate past Commissioner for Health in the state, Dr. Daniel Umezurike.
