How it all began

When he arrived Kano, Engr. Tijjani Gwarzo, a former governor of the state was his godfather until he fell out with him. He later formed alliance with Ibrahim Shekarau, another former governor of the state. He also dumped him to team u with Rabiu Kwankwaso, also a former governor and now with Abdullahi Ganduje, the incumbent governor of the state.

“When I first came to Kano my political godfather was a former Kano state deputy governor, Engr. Tijjani Gwarzo. When we fell out with each other, I joined Ibrahim Shekarau’s team and when I was no longer comfortable with Shekarau’s camp I joined Kwankwaso and now I am with Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.”

He came into limelight in 2015 due to his songs praising the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari.

Political ambition

He plans to run for a seat in the House of Representatives.

Net worth and Source of wealth

Dauda Adamu is well-known for gifting his colleagues in Kannywood cars.

His major source of wealth is presumed to be political contracts.

In an interview with Blueprint, Rarara disclosed that his closeness to President Muhammadu Buhari earned him worth millions of the Naira and noted “that alone is more than what he will give me personally”.

When asked about his net worth, he said; “Well I am not paying rent. I have my own business outfit, Rarara musical studio. I have choice vehicles. I am comfortable so to speak. But mind you we have richer guys in the industry, all I can say is I am not doing badly?”.

Controversy

Demanded donation for his album

Dauda Kahutu in 2020 asked Nigerians to sponsor his next album (harp-song) with a token of N1000 each.

Kahutu claimed the donations, if they come in as he expects, will show that Nigerians still love the president despite the numerous hardships facing the nation.

In a two minutes video he posted on his social media pages and also shared by many on Twitter and Instagram, the singer, also known as Rarara, said he is asking for the donations “to prove to Nigerians that President Buhari’s supporters are solidly behind him”.

“I want to make a new song for the president and what I want to do this time around is to ask every of his supporter to fund the new song project. I want every one of you to contribute the sum of N1000 into my account to prove to Nigerians that Buhari’s fan base is still intact despite the economic hardship Nigerians are facing,” Rarara said.

Allegedly composed a song insulting Buhari

There were reports that the singer released a song to insult President Buhari. But he has since denied such action stating; “honestly, it is not true…I will never do that”.

Attacked over his songs

Rarara had in an interview claimed; ” since the time I released my famous song, ‘Zuwan Mai malafa Kano’, I have been receiving a lot of threats and challenges here and there. However, I have been releasing more songs since then. I also heard that there was a song in the market which some people think it was my song. Honestly it is not true you know I will never do that.”

However, few hours after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the candidate of the NNPP winner of Kano state guberntorial election, some youths stormed his residence and burnt it.

A police statement reacting to the incident reads in part; “on 20/03/2023 at about 1400hrs, some group of thugs under the cover of celebrating gubernatorial election victory went berserk, stormed and attacked the residence of one Dauda Adamu Abdullahi (Rarara) located at Hausawa Layout, Zoo Road, Kano. Studio located behind Gidan Dan Asabe, Zoo Road, his office named “13×13” Movement, located at opposite Kano Zoo, Zoo Road Kano, burnt and destroyed parts of the buildings. ”

Escorts dismissed by NPF

A viral video in April, 2023 showed three police officers attached to the APC’s praise singer shooting shooting their weapons indiscriminately at an event in Kano.

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) invited the three police officers involved for questioning after which they were dismissed from the police force.
