Meet Dr Adeyemi, Nigerian politician who is a doctor, lawyer, pharmacist, and accountant

Dr. Samuel Olufemi Adeyemi DVM, MPVM, MBA, B.PHARM., LL.B, M.PHARM., ACA(ICAN), Ph.D, FCVSN is a gubernatorial aspirant in Ogun state on the platform of Action Alliance (AA).

Amazingly, Dr. Adeyemi holds professional degrees as a doctor, lawyer, pharmacist, and accountant.

Dr Adeyemi: Biography, Age, Tribe, Parents

Dr. Samuel Olufemi Adeyemi was born on the 24th of January 1961 at Oluyoro Catholic Hospital, Ibadan, to Mr. Wilson Oluyemisi Adeyemi and Mrs. Felicia Akanke Adeyemi (nee Nuga), both of blessed memory.

Adeyemi is currently 62 years old as of 2023.

He is a native of Ijebu-Igbo in the Ijebu-North Local Government area of Ogun State.

Education

He attended Local Authority Primary School, Egan-Moro, near Ijebu-Igbo, between 1967 and 1972. He proceeded to Molusi College Ijebu-Igbo in 1973 for his secondary education.

He sat for the 1977 West African School Certificate Examination in a funny combination of courses namely; History, Bible Knowledge, English, Mathematics, Economics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

Achievements in school

He was made the Library Prefect in the school and the best-graduating student of his set.

He graduated in 1983 as a Veterinary Doctor at the age of 22, obtaining the departmental prize of the Department of Veterinary Physiology and Pharmacology, and was registered with the Veterinary Council of Nigeria with number 1129.

He did his mandatory NYSC at the Zonal Veterinary Office, Aliyu Jodi, Sokoto. He later, in 1986, obtained his Masters degree in Veterinary Public Health and Preventive Medicine from the same University at age 24.

He also obtained a Master of Business Administration degree from the same Premier University. He later became a Pharmacist with a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from the Olabisi Onabanjo University Ago Iwoye.

Adeyemi, therefore, became perhaps the only Nigerian who is a Veterinary doctor and also a human Pharmacist. He later obtained a Master of Science degree in Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Technology from Olabisi Onabanjo University.

He proceeded to the prestigious University of London for his Law degree, which he obtained in a record time of 2 years thereby becoming the holder of the LL.B degree with Honours.

He enrolled with ICAN and, within 2 years became a Chartered accountant ACA with number 050351.

He, therefore, raised the bar further as perhaps the only Nigerian that is a Veterinary Doctor, a Pharmacist, a Lawyer, a Chartered accountant, and a Management expert.

Not satisfied, he returned to the Premier University to obtain his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) degree majoring in Molecular Epidemiology. Finally, after years of intensive training he obtained the “Fellowship of the College of Veterinary Surgeons of Nigeria” FCVSN.

Career

On the business front, he has never been in any paid employment all his life. As a young Vet, he partnered with his friend and classmate Dr. Kehinde Oyewola to form OAK Veterinary Consultants in 1984.

He later registered his own company SOPTIMAL VENTURES LTD which is still subsisting till today. He was the visioner for the coming to life of the “ASSOCIATION OF PRIVATE VETERINARY MEDICAL PRACTITIONERS OF OYO STATE”in the late 80’s together with Drs Oyewola, Towoju, and Dr. Adejoro.

Dr Adeyemi later rose to become the President of the Association. He also held several other executive positions in NVMA Oyo State.

He was awarded the honour of being a “DISTINGUISHED ALUMNUS” of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Ibadan during its 50th-anniversary celebration.

Political career

He was a foundation member and Oyo State officer of the defunct National Republican Convention, NRC.

He is the Chairman Board of Trustees of “ACTION ALLIANCE” and contested on the party’s platform for the March 18, 2023 governorship election in Ogun state, and lost.

Religion

On the religious front, Dr. Adeyemi is a Deacon with the LIVING FAITH CHURCH (aka WINNERS CHAPEL), Oyo State headquarters Church, Basorun Ibadan. He is a holder of all the 3 WOFBI (Word of Faith Bible International) certificates namely:

Basic Certificate Course(BCC), Leadership Certificate Course (LCC) and Leadership Diploma Course (LDC). He was at a time the head of the Gilead Medical Unit of the Church.
