The All Progressives Congress (APC) PCC Director of Media and Publicity, Bayo Onanuga, has said the 2023 general elections should be the last time Igbos interfere in Lagos state’s politics.

There are indications that Onanuga was referring to the 2023 presidential elections, in which the Labour Party (LP) candidate, Peter Obi, defeated Bola Ahmed Tinubu of APC in his stronghold, Lagos state.

Likewise, LP supporters in the state, presumably mostly Igbos, had threatened to vote out Babajide Sanwo-Olu and instead vote in Gbadebo Rhodes-Vicour of the LP.

In the post with Peter Obi’s picture attached, Onanuga wrote; “Let 2023 be the last time of Igbo interference in Lagos politics. Let there be no repeat in 2027. An earlier post by Onanuga reads; “I hope the Obidients and their LP have now realized that Lagos is not ‘no man’s land’. The state has indigenous owners and today they emphatically made the statement loud and clear.”
