Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, yesterday, alleged there were plans to impeach him, if the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) loses in the Edo State House of Assembly polls to the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

The governor, who lost his ward, council and senatorial district to Labour Party (LP), accused former Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, of being behind his travail at the just concluded presidential and National Assembly elections in the state.

Speaking ahead of the state House of Assembly elections scheduled for Saturday, Obaseki, in a statement signed by his Special Adviser, Media Projects, Mr. Crusoe Osagie, said Edo people would rise in his defence and foil Oshiomhole’s plan for impeachment.

The statement reads: “The recent statement by former Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, on the fate of Governor Godwin Obaseki in Edo State House of Assembly polls exposes his insidious plan to oust the current governor through impeachment.

“We are, however, confident that, like it happened in 2020, when Edo people stood with the governor despite the bullying and intimidation by Oshiomhole and his paymasters, Edo people will again rise in defence of the governor at the polls on Saturday, March 11; vote massively for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and elect a House controlled by the party.

“It is curious that it is Oshiomhole, who has come forward with the agenda of the APC and not any of the candidates. One wonders if Oshiomhole will be a member of the Edo State House of Assembly after the polls. This points to who and where instructions will be issued from, if the party’s candidates are mistakenly elected into the House.”

He urged Edo people to read the signs and vote en masse for the candidates of the PDP to sustain developmental strides of the Obaseki government.”
