Former Chelsea player, Christian Atsu, ‘trapped’ after earthquake in Turkey

Ghanaian player, Christian Atsu, is reportedly trapped under rubble after an earthquake in Turkey.
Atus who has played in the Premier League was trapped following a 7.8 magnitude earthquake that rocked areas of Turkey and Syria on Monday, causing devastation across the countries.
As reported by journalist Ya??z Sabuncuo?lu and multiple other outlets in Turkey, while several players of Hatayspor have been rescued following the earthquake, Atsu and club sporting director Taner Savut are still unaccounted for. A search and rescue operation is underway.
According to the tweet which was translated from Turkish to English; “Hatayspor Sporting Director Taner Savut and Cristian Atsu were left under the rubble. Search and rescue teams are looking for two names.”
Atsu’s former club Newcastle United tweeted: “Praying for some positive news, Christian Atsu.”
He had played for top clubs like Chelsea, Everton, Bournemouth and Newcastle. He joined the Turkish outfit in 2022.
Atsu prior to the incident tweeted his joy after scoring a winner hours before he was buried in the rubble of the earthquake in Turkey.
A second earthquake, with its epicentre near the city of Kahramanmaras, hit several hours after the first and the rising death toll is currently 1,200.
