Fuel-Naira Scarcity: One dies as soldiers shoot protesters in Ibadan

Nigerian soldiers have allegedly gunned down one person in Ibadan, Oyo state capital as residents protest the fuel scarcity and unavailability of Naira notes.

The protests which happened across the major cities of the state grounded activities and had youths carrying placards expressing their grievances on the situation since Friday.

According to some reports, the incident happened in the early hours of Saturday, February 4.

An eyewitness quoted by the Nigerian Tribune said people only saw soldiers’ vehicles pass through Brent at Apata area of Ibadan, Oyo state after which they all heard gunshots.

“Everyone ran for their lives; some lay on the floor to prevent stray bullets.”

Another female casualty is presently receiving treatment at Lafia Hospital in the NNPC area.
