According to claims from the BBC, a 29-year-old man may be the tallest man in the world after having his height measured at a small hospital in northern Ghana at 9 feet 6 inches.

After a checkup in a clinic in Ghana, Sulemana Abdul Samed, 29, was reportedly announced to be 9 feet 6 inches tall.

Who is Sulemana Abdul?

29-year-old Sulemana Abdul Samed, often known as Awuche, hails from a village in northern Ghana. Several years ago, his gigantism was identified, and he has since never stopped growing.

After completing secondary school, he relocated to the capital to live with his brother. Health problems forced him to return to his village, even though he wanted to be a driver.

He remembered one morning when he awoke to discover his tongue had gotten so big he could barely breathe.

According to the BBC, Samed has Marfan Syndrome, which has caused his spine to be unusually curled.

The hereditary condition causes excessively lengthy limbs by affecting the body’s connective structures.

According to the doctors, Samed will require brain surgery to stop his growth.

Is Sulemana Abdul Samed the tallest man in the world?

Awuche isn’t the tallest guy in the world, but given his continued growth, he might be in the future. Sultan Kösen, a Turkish citizen from Ankara who stood 8 feet, 2.8 inches tall and was given the Guinness World Record in 2009, currently holds the title of the tallest man in the world.

With each hand reaching 28.5 cm from the wrist to the tip of the middle finger, Kösen not only holds the record for the tallest living man in the world, but he also broke the previous record for the biggest feet on a live person.

At the local clinic in Ghana where Sulamana’s height was initially taken, the nurses and doctors used a pole and stick to take the height, making the claim not perfect.

However, a BBC journalist visited the Sulemana with a 16-foot tape to take his measurement.

The result revealed that Sulemena is seven foot four inches tall, making him a foot shorter than Sultan Kosen.

Is Samed still growing?

Yes, Sulemana Abdul Samed is still growing, according to him.

Referencing Kosen, Samed said “I’m still growing tall. Who knows, maybe one day I may get to that height too,”

Every three months of four months I grow… If you’ve not seen me for three months or four, and you see me, you’d realise I have increased,” he added.
