How to check your NIN on MTN, Glo, Airtel, 9mobile, and online

Every citizen and authorized resident of Nigeria must have a National Identification Number(NIN). It is simple to forget because it is 11 digits long, especially when you need to enter it during a registration process.

The good news is that checking your NIN on MTN, Glo, Airtel, 9mobile, and even online is a simple process. By being aware of this, you may be confident that you can always present your NIN number without having to bring your slip with you. You only need to have access to your phone.

Why do you need NIN?

Currently in Nigeria, you won’t be able to function normally or enjoy some basic opportunities without a NIN. This is due to the fact that it is now connected to almost all databases run by the government, including your bank account and cell phone. Currently, a NIN is required in order to apply for a National e-ID card, a driver’s license, a voter card, or any other government social benefit.

How to check NIN on MTN, Glo, Airtel, 9mobile, and online

There isn’t a means for you to check your NIN number online at the moment. Only the SIM that the NIN was registered with can be used for this.

Simply follow these procedures to check your NIN on any of Nigeria’s major networks:

  • Dial the USSD code *346# on your mobile phone
  • Select option 1 to retrieve NIN
  • Supply the required information and follow the prompt thereafter on the screen

Keep in mind that this will only function if the SIM has previously been registered and linked to a NIN. Additionally, the process deducts N20 from your remaining airtime, so be sure you have enough or you won’t be able to finish the procedure
