Teslim Kolawole Folarin is a Nigerian politician and a three-term Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. 

He was born on October 1, 1963, in Zaria, Kaduna State.

Folarin served in the National Assembly in 2003, 2007 and 2019 and is currently the Gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressive Congress ( APC) in the forthcoming 2023 election.

Folarin had his secondary education at Methodist Boys High School before heading to the University of Ibadan, where he got a degree in Political Science. He also possesses a diploma from Harvard University, USA

Before moving back to Nigeria in 2002, Folarin started his career as a civil servant in the UK, where he spent several years gaining important civil service experience, including management positions at the Department of Trade in London.

At 39, Folarin ran for and was elected to the Senate to represent Oyo Central on the PDP platform in 2003. She was then re-elected to a second term in 2007 on the same PDP platform. Folarin is the only lawmaker from Oyo State to have held two Senate terms.

He was made Leader of the Senate in the Senate. Although his main areas of interest were in power generation, water resources, and education, Folarin also served on the Senate Committee on Business & Rules, Marines, and Transportation.

In 2008, Teslim Folarin took part in the power probe. He introduced numerous private legislation personally and presided over deliberations on all executive measures as the Senate’s leader. The Insurance Act, the Armed Forces Pension Act, and numerous more laws fall under this category.

In 2014, Folarin won the gubernatorial ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo state. Senator Abiola Ajimobi of the All Progressive Congress, the then-incumbent governor, defeated him in the election.

In December 2017, Folarin switched allegiances to the opposition All Progressive Congress. In September 2018, Folarin won the APC’s nomination for the Oyo South senatorial seat and he won the incumbent senator, Mrs. Monsurat Sunmonu, as well as other contenders, to win the office of senator in the 2019 Oyo central senatorial district election.

He serves in the ninth Senate as chairman of the local content committee. In addition, he serves on the National Intelligence, Air Force, Inter-parliamentary, INEC, Constitutional Review, Finance, and Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) committees.

In connection with the murder of Alhaji Lateef Salako, also known as Eleweomo, a former factional leader of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Oyo State chapter, Senator Teslim Folarin was charged before a magistrate court in Ibadan.

He was charged with murder and conspiracy on two counts along with three other people
