Biography
Folashade Alice Oluwafemiayo is a Nigerian Paralympic athlete, three-time world champion, and gold medalist.
She was born on March 11th, 1985, in Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria. Folashade is 37 years as of 2022
The Paralympian had a body impairment right from childhood due to polio.
Career
While competing in the women’s 75kg division, Folashade won a silver medal and set a world record at the 2012 Summer Paralympics.
She took first place in the powerlifting division of the 2017 World Para Powerlifting Championships in Mexico. However, the Paralympian was disqualified from the event the following year for breaking anti-doping regulations.
World Para Powerlifting Championships in Tbilisi, Georgia, in 2021 saw Folashade win the gold medal in her division. She persevered and set a new world record in this event with 152.5 kg. She was also given a gold medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Bringham, London.
Marriage
Folashade is married to a Powerlifter, Tolulope Taiwo and their marriage is blessed with a child.

Funmilayo received a two-year suspension in 2013 after testing positive for the illegal masking drug furosemide at a World Championship in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
In addition to losing her 79 kg gold medal, she had her 125 kg world record lift annulled. The suspension was in effect between April 2013 and April 2015.
