Biography

Stephen Laurel Boss, famously known as tWitch, was an American freestyle hip-hop dancer, Dj, choreographer, actor, television producer, and television personality.

He was born on September 29, 1982, and died on December 13, 2022, after reportedly taking his own life.

tWitch was a runner-up on the American version of the show “So You Think You Can Dance.”

He appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show as a co-host and co-executive producer from 2014 until the show’s end in 2022.

tWitch also featured in Ellen’s Game of Games as Ellen DeGeneres’ sidekick. He and his wife, Allison Holker, hosted Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings on Freeform and Disney+ between 2018 and 2020.

After graduating from Lee High School in Montgomery, Alabama, Boss pursued studies in dance performance at Chapman University and Southern Union State Community College in Wadley, Alabama.

Career

Boss was runner-up in the television talent contest Star Search in 2003 and made it to the semifinals of MTV’s The Wade Robson Project. He helped train other YG Entertainment artists like Big Bang and created routines for South Korean pop/R&B singer Seven.

He appeared in Blades of Glory in 2007 as an uncredited “flamboyant dancer” and in Hairspray as a Maybelle’s Store Dancer.

After participating in So You Think You Can Dance, Boss and fellow finalist Katee Shean taught dance at South County Classical Ballet. He and Allison Holker gave a dance routine on Dancing with the Stars on April 30, 2013.

Boss has been a guest DJ on The Ellen DeGeneres Show since April 1, 2014. He revealed that he had been cast in Magic Mike XXL on October 1, 2014. He joined the daytime talk show Ellen DeGeneres as a co-executive producer on August 17, 2020.

In the upcoming superhero film Perfectus, Boss was cast as Marcel X, and he later had a feature role in the film Ushers. He was a part of the dance groups “Chill Factor Crew” and “Breed OCLA.”

Marriage

Boss is married to Allison Holker, and they have two children together.

Death

Boss’ wife, Allison Holker, alerted officers at the Los Angeles Police Department on December 13, 2022, that he had behaved unusually by leaving their home without taking his car.

After Boss failed to check out of the motel, police were called about a shooting at the Oak Tree Inn in Encino, Los Angeles. The cause of death was determined to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
