Man allegedly beats up lady for refusing his friendship

A Karu Grade I Area Court, Abuja, on Tuesday, remanded a 39-year-old man, Ahmed Isa, for allegedly beating up a lady for refusing his friendship.

The judge, Umar Mayana, ordered that Isa be remanded until December 15 to determine his sentence after he pleaded guilty to causing grievous hurt.

The Prosecution Counsel, Olarewaju Osho, told the court that the complainant (victim) reported the matter at the Maitama police station on November 28.

He said the defendant approached the complainant to be his friend, but she refused his advances.

The defendant, he said, got angry and attacked her and, in the process, dislocated her left arm.

He said the complainant was rushed to the hospital.

The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of Section 246 of the Penal Code.
