Top Female Movie Assassins

By Balogun Kamilu Lekan

Some of the best, most enduring, and badass women in film history have appeared in female assassin films, which are in a class of their own.

Below is a list of some female assassins in top movies

Cataleya Restrepo – Colombiana

Colombiana, directed by Olivier Megaton, was one of many excellent female assassin films released in 2011. Luc Besson, the master of the female assassin subgenre, wrote the screenplay for this movie, which stars Zoe Saldana as a cold-blooded hit-woman.

When Cataleya was a young girl in Colombia, she witnessed her parents’ brutal murder. As an adult, she vowed retaliation against the people who had taken her more precious relatives from her. Under her uncle’s guidance, Cataleya develops into one of the most fearsome assassins in the world. She also works as a nighttime killer determined to avenge her parents’ murders by provoking the mob boss.

Ava – Ava

Jessica Chastain has played tough women in a number of other movies, so casting her as the main character in Ava was brilliant. In Dark Phoenix, Chastain portrays the villain of a superhero movie, while in Molly’s Game, she plays a ruthless hustler. Her most violent performance was undoubted as Ava.

This film contains some scenes that are quite shocking in terms of how graphic they become. Ava kills everyone in her path without holding anything back. That includes a memorable encounter with Simon, played by Colin Farrell.

Samantha Caine – The Long Kiss Goodnight

Geena Davis appears in Ava, and Tate Taylor must have chosen her based on her portrayal of the amnesiac assassin Samantha Caine in The Long Kiss Goodnight.

Samantha Caine, a suburban schoolteacher who begins remembering bits and pieces of her past life after bumping her head, is directed by Davis’ then-husband Renny Harlin from a Shane Black script. When she awakens, she realises she is a highly skilled government assassin whose former colleagues are now out to kill her and silence her for good. Caine, of course, has other plans.

Anna – Anna

Anna was written and directed by the same director who gave us classics like Leon: The Professional and The Fifth Element.

The film’s main character, Anna (Sasha Luss), joins the KGB to escape domestic abuse. After working as a skilled assassin for years, she wants a way out, but she isn’t given one, so she sets out on a mission to free herself. Anna demonstrates that she is one of the most cunning killers in addition to her brutality in the field.

Mary Goodwin – Proud Mary

Taraji P. Henson has portrayed various characters, including a hip-hop mogul, a police officer, and a brilliant mathematician. By playing Mary Goodwin in Proud Mary in 2018, she expanded her impressive résumé to include a hit-woman.

In Proud Mary, the lead character takes care of a young child after a job goes wrong, similar to some female assassin films. Even though the reviews weren’t great, Henson gave her usual excellent performance, and Mary had some memorable action scenes.
