Dr SID, real name – Sidney Onoriode Esiri is a popular, award-winning Nigerian singer. 

He was born in Lagos State on the 1st of May, 1980. Dr SID is 42 years as of 2022.

Dr SID had his secondary education at Nigerian Air Force Secondary School in Ikeja before heading to the University of Ibadan where he bagged a degree in dentistry and dental surgery

Career

Dr SID started as a choreographer before he signed a contract with Trybe Records, a brand-new record label, in 1999. He worked as a backup dancer for Trybe Records for three years.

He got his chance to perform in 2002 when he joined Da Trybe and was given a spot on the song OYA, which, along with Sasha, 2-Shotz, Timi, DEL.

Don’t Stop, his debut single, spent eight weeks at the top of the MBI top ten after being recorded in 2003. He needed a year off to finish his university degree, so his music career had to be put on hold.

Dr. SID received his dental degree in 2004 before he moved to the UK to start working with musicians like D’prince, Felix Duke, R70, JJC & the 419 squads, and R70.

After returning to Nigeria, he worked at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital the following year before performing his National Youth Service in Adamawa State. He worked at various dental offices and combined dentistry and music.

He began work on his studio album Prognosis in 2005 before he decided to give up his dental practice and focus solely on music after three years. He joined Mo’ Hits Records, owned by Don Jazzy, and recorded Curriculum Vitae (CV), a joint album by Mo’ Hits Allstars, released in December 2007. Seven of the album’s fifteen songs, including Booty Call and Close to You, featured him as a featured artist.

Dr SID started working on his debut solo album for Mo’ Hits Records with producer Don Jazzy. The album Turning Point’s first single, Something About You, was made available in September 2009. He also performed as a Mo’ Hits Allstars member at the MTV Africa Music Awards in Kenya alongside D’banj, Wande Coal, and Kenyan musician STL.

He SID joined Don Jazzy’s Mavin Records after D’banj and Don Jazzy, Mo’ Hits Records co-founders, separated.

Controversy

Dr SID’s wife, Simi, reportedly announced on social media that their marriage of five years crashed.

The post on Instagram reads, “A lot of you may have known that Sid and I are no longer together and are moving forward with the tough decision to divorce. Our priority will now be working together as co-parents to our beautiful daughters”.
