Rapper ‘Ikechukwu’: Biography, Education, Career, Marriage, Net Worth, Achievements and Controversy

Biography

Ikechukwu Onunaku, famously known as Ikechukwu or Killz, is a famous Nigerian rapper, singer, and actor. 

He was born on the 20th of October, 1981, in Manassas, Virginia, to Nigerian parents. Ikechukwu is 41 years old as of 2022

The rapper was renowned for his acting role in the popular hit Nollywood movie “The Wedding Party”

Education

Ikechukwu attended King’s College, Lagos.

Career

Ikechukwu began his career when he returned to Nigeria after a ten-year absence. His debut album, “Son of the Soil”, which featured the hit song “My Name is Ikechukwu”, was released in 2006.

“Son of the Soil” was followed by Don Jazzy’s production, “Life and Times of Killz Volume 1”, which featured top stars like D’Banj, Wande Coal, and regular collaborator Naeto C.

“My Name Ikechukwu,” his No. 1 single from Son of the Soil, spent 21, 6, and 5 weeks at the top of the East, Lagos, and Abuja charts, respectively. 

His third album, ‘The Alliance Reconstructed’, also featured the singles “Critical” and “Now is the Time.” “Bu Lie Oto,” “B.A.D.A,” “Carry Me,” and “Balabala” are some of his other singles.

Ikechukwu took up his debut acting role in “The Wages” a short film which Walter Taylaur wrote, produced and directed. After receiving compliments and being selected for screening at AFRIFF in 2014, it later won a best short feature award at the AMVCA in 2015.

After appearing in a significant cameo in the Ndani-produced film Gidi Up, Ikechukwu was cast in a pivotal role in the 2016 hit “The Wedding Party”. In 2017, he once more joined the cast of The Wedding Party 2.

Controversy

Ikechukwu allegedly accused SARS agents of beating him and robbing him of his money in the Lekki Phase 1 region of the state in 2019.

In a post on his Instagram page, he claimed that the operatives had pulled him out of an Uber taxi, shoved him into a police Hilux van, and then beat him.
