How 20-year-old, Maryam Ibrahim killed her co-wife, Hafsat Ibrahim with a pestle in Bauchi State

The Police have arrested a 20-year-old woman, Maryam Ibrahim for allegedly killing her co-wife, Hafsat Ibrahim with a pestle in Bauchi State.

Police Public Relations Officer of the Bauchi State command, SP Ahmed Mohammad Wakil, who made this known to journalists through a press release on Monday evening, said that the suspect, Maryam Ibrahim of Gar village, Pali ward of Alkaleri LGA was apprehended on 22nd November, 2022.

According to the PPRO, the husband of the victim, 40 years old Ibrahim Sambo of Gar village of Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State had on the 22nd November, 2022, reported the incident at the Maina-maji Divisional Police Headquarters.

SP Wakil further said that Ibrahim Sambo reported that “on the same date at about 1200hrs, his second wife Maryam Ibrahim ‘f’ aged 20yrs of the same address used a pestle to hit his first wife Hafsat Ibrahim on the head in her room.”

The deceased’s husband informed the police that as a result, the victim sustained serious degree of injury and was taken to Primary Health-care centre, Gar village where she was certified dead by a medical doctor.

“On receiving the report, a team of detectives attached to the Command swung into action and arrested the suspect”, the PPRO said.

He noted that during interrogation, the suspect voluntarily confessed to the crime.
