Biography

Oluseun Anikulapo Kuti, famously known as Seun Kuti, is a famous Nigerian Afrobeat singer and activist born into the family of the Afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo Kuti.

He was born in Lagos State on the 11th of January, 1983. Seun is 39 years as of 2022.

The singer is the last child of Fela Kuti, a pioneer of Afrobeat music, and he currently leads his father’s former band, Egypt 80.

Career

In 2008, the band Egypt 80 released an album, Many Things, which was Sean Kuti with Egypt 80’s debut album. 

In 2014, Seun made his debut live performance after being honoured with an invitation to the Industry Nite.

He also appeared as a featured guest on Jidenna’s second album, 85 to Africa, which was released in 2019.

Kuti was interviewed for the Polaris series in the Visual Collaborative internet catalogue about pan-Africanism, his own country, and music.

He appears on Calle 13’s 2010 album Entren los que quieran in the song “Todo se mueve” (Everything Moves).

In 2019, Kuti appeared as a featured guest on Jidenna’s second album, 85 to Africa. He was also featured in the Polaris series of the Visual Collaborative electronic catalogue and interviewed about Pan-African awareness, his country, and music.

Seun has also been an advent critic of the government and speaking up against injustice.

Relationship

Seun is married to Yetunde George Ademiluyi, and their marriage is blessed with a daughter, Ifafunmike Adara Anikulapo-Kuti.
