Biography
Jibola Toriola, famously known as Jhybo, is a Nigerian native musician, rapper, singer, and songwriter.
He was born on January 21, 1989, in Lagos, Nigeria.
Jhybo is known to be a proficient and profound rapper with superb mixes of humour in his deliveries.
Education
Jhybo attended Holy Cross Primary School for his elementary education before heading to his Boys Academy for his secondary education.
He then proceeded to Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta, Ogun State, for a diploma in mass communication.
Career
Jhybo launched his professional career in 2010 with a massive hit single, ‘They Just Dey Run Their Mouth,’ featuring Cynthia Morgan, soon after releasing a number of singles with his previous label.
One of the singles released, 9JA, was a conscious rap about the ongoing problems in Nigeria. The hit song prompted a call from the well-known Sunny Neji, a collaboration ensued, and the rest is history.
Jhybo released one album with his former label, ‘Be Naa Ni,’ before the expiration of his contract in 2014. He released a number of singles independently after leaving his former label, including Money Sure Pass and Rotate, and also collaborated with a number of Nigerian artists.
Jhybo began an independent collaboration with Lima Music (Living In Movement Always), a newly formed collective of young, exciting, and ambitious street-wise professionals, also known as Lima Gang, in October 2014.
Jhybo’s first single with Lima Music, ‘Baba Loke,’ featuring Orezi, was released in October 2014. The video was also released shortly after, receiving a lot of airplay and fan support.
The next single to be released was ‘Baba Alaye,’ which featured the fast-rising Ibadan crooner Q Dot. Lima Music has made a name for itself in the fast-paced Nigerian music industry in a short time.
Shortly after, the hit singles Lomo and Adura Elijah gained massive attention from new and loyal fans. The response and support have been overwhelming, re-establishing Jhybo as a respected artist in the industry. Frizze and Brizzle, two up-and-coming directors, created excellent visuals for both songs.
He independently travelled from location to location to display his artistic abilities.
