Samuel Chimerenka Chukwueze is a Nigerian professional footballer who plays as a winger for a Spanish club, Villarreal, and the Nigeria national team, Super Eagles

He was born in Abia State on the 22nd of May, 1999. He is 22 years old as of 2022.

After his elementary education, Chukwueze proceeded to Government College Umuahia and later to Evangel Secondary School for his secondary education.

Chukwueze started his career with Diamond Football Academy before moving to Villarreal CF youth club in 2017.

Initially assigned to the club’s Juvenil A team, he made his senior debut with the reserves on April 15, 2018, against CE Sabadell FC.

Chukwueze scored his first goal as a senior on May 20, 2018, scoring his team’s second goal in a 3-1 away victory over Bilbao Athletic. In his first season, he contributed by scoring twice in 11 games, but his team failed to make the playoffs.

Chukwueze made his first-team debut for the 2018-19 UEFA Europa League on September 20, 2018, replacing Nicola Sansone in a 2-2 home draw against Rangers. He also made his La Liga debut on November 5, 2018, playing 90 minutes of his team’s 1-1 home draw with Levante.

On April 12, 2022, Chukwueze equalised 1-1 in the 88th minute of the second leg of the 2021-22 UEFA Champions League quarterfinal away to Bayern Munich, advancing Villarreal to the competition’s semifinals.

International Career

After representing Nigeria at the under-17 level, he was called to the senior team for the first time in October 2018. He made his senior national team debut for Nigeria in November 2018, in a goalless friendly draw with Uganda.

Samuel Chukwueze has been invited to play for Nigeria’s senior team in the Africa Cup of Nations and the under-20 squad in the Under-20 World Cup in May 2019. He played in the Africa Cup of Nations, held in Egypt, and scored his first goal as a senior in Nigeria’s 2-1 quarterfinal victory over South Africa.
