Biography

Toke Makinwa is a Nigerian radio personality, television host, vlogger, lifestyle entrepreneur, actress and author.

She was born on the 3 November, 1984. Toke Makinwa is 38 years old as of 2022.

Toke is a multitalented individual who has explored several aspects of the Nigerian movie industry and has also won numerous awards in the course of her career.

She released her book On Becoming in November 2016. She is also one of the top five African female show hosts

Education

Toke had her secondary education at Federal Government Girls’ College in Oyo State before proceeding to the University of Lagos, where she bagged a bachelor’s degree in English and Literature.

Career

Makinwa made her significant media debut as a co-host on Rhythm 93.7 FM’s The Morning Drive show in 2010.

In 2012, she hosted the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (MBGN) beauty contest, broadcast live throughout Nigeria.

She co-hosted 3 Live Chicks on Flytime TV with Tosyn Bucknor and Oreka Godis. The show began as a web series before being broadcast on terrestrial television in late 2012.

Makinwa debuted her YouTube vlog series, Toke Moments, in 2012.

Makinwa was named the host of Hip Hop World Magazine’s interview and discussion series Trending in January 2014. She also became a co-host of EbonyLife TV’s flagship show, Moments.

Makinwa has presented a number of important events, including the Future and City People Awards in 2013 and the Headies Awards in 2014.

Toke Makinwa and Nollywood actress Nancy Isime were revealed as the hosts of the third season of The Voice Nigeria in March 2021.

Toke Makinwa was announced as the host of Gulder Ultimate Search Season 12 on October 16, 2021.

In November 2021, her new TV show “Talk With Toke Makinwa” premiered on MultiChoice.

Toke Makinwa was married to Maje Ayida before they separated in a messy divorce after her husband was accused of committing adultery.

Toke signed a multi-million naira contract with Nestlé Nigeria to become the new face of Maggi. In 2016, she became the brand ambassador and face of Mecran Cosmetics.

She has also been an ambassador for Payporte, Ciroc, and Oppo Mobile Telecommunications.

Toke’s voluptuous figure and skin have been a topic of controversy. The actress had surgery that enhanced her shape. Toke also explained that she resorted to bleaching her skin to please her former husband.
