It’s not unusual for happy marriages to end because of infidelity or domestic abuse, among other things.
The statistics in Nigeria are astounding in this regard. However, celebrity experiences typically go viral, although there are comparatively few instances of marriages falling apart among regular men and women.
The explanation is not implausible; their captivating social position made them newsworthy. Some celebrities have recently been in the news for their failed marriages as much as their talents.
Below is a list of celebrities’ marriages that failed to work
1. Funke Akindele
Popular actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele, also known as Jenifa, married director Abdulrasheed Bello, also known as JJC Skillz, in May 2016. She is currently running for the position of Deputy Governor in the upcoming general elections.
Her spouse confirmed the break up in a post in June 2022, claiming that their union was “beyond repair.”
2. Gideon Okeke
Nollywood actor Gideon Okeke, who wed his longtime partner Chidera Uduezue in 2018, announced his separation from the union that birthed two sons on his Instagram account.
The post confirming the separation reads, “You wouldn’t believe it if I told you that I’m separated from my marriage right? It is in the interest of clarity and clear conscience that this becomes imperative.”
3. Kunle Afod
Kunle Afod is a well-known actor and filmmaker from Nigeria. In 2003, the well-known Yoruba actor and his wife, Desola, married in a white ceremony. On Tuesday, October 25, 2022, Desola announced the breakdown of their marriage in a brief Instagram post.
Dasola made a post on Instagram to confirm the separation. She said, “The good news you wanna hear. I left Kunle Afod.”
However, Kunle is yet to respond to the comment.
4. Yewande Adekoya
Yewande Adekoya, a Nigerian actress and filmmaker, experienced a marriage breakdown in April 2022. The mother of two claimed that she had been the victim of emotional abuse for 14 years while making public the breakdown of her marriage.
5. Chacha Eke
Nollywood actress Chacha Eke announced the dissolution of her marriage to film director Austin Faani in the same month.
I don’t want to ‘die’ or go inexplicably ‘missing’. For the second time in two years, I am here again on social media boldly declaring that I am done with my marriage,” Eke stated in a post.
Other notable mentions of this category include Popular dancer Kafayat Shafau, aka Kaffy, and her husband Joseph Ameh, who divorced in 2021, and Actor Blossom Chukwujekwu and his wife Maureen Esision, who ended their marriage in 2019. Musician Sidney Esiri, aka Dr Sid, and his wife announced their separation on Instagram. Actress Osas Ighodaro and her husband, Gbenro Ajibade, also divorced in 2019.
