‘No bail in Naira’: Reactions as China reportedly opens police stations in Nigeria, 20 other countries

The Chinese government has reportedly opened police stations in Nigeria and over 20 countries in Europe, the Americas, Asia and Africa to tackle the increasing criminal activities of its citizens abroad.

According to a report quoting SafeGuard Defender, “Rather than cooperating with local authorities in the full respect of territorial sovereignty, it prefers…to cooperate with (United Front-linked) overseas ‘NGOs’ or ‘civil society associations’ across the ?ve continents, setting up an alternative policing and judicial system within third countries, and directly implicating those organisations in the illegal methods employed to pursue ‘fugitives’.”

This means the police station is solely for the arrest of its nationals (Chinese) and has no authority whatsoever in the affair of the residing country.

Lesotho and Tanzania are reportedly the two other African countries apart from Nigeria that have Chinese police stations.

This suspected development has, however, generated mixed reactions amidst Nigerians, with lots of people jokingly inferring it was because of the China loans collected by President Muhammadu Buhari administration.

Below are some of the reactions:

@Ogbeni1: “Is that “playing”?? So China police will be arresting who??”

@Firda67300086: “Police station?? We collect China loan plenty be that??”

@Its_Chriswoods: “As if the oppression is not enough, they now own a police station.
They have mortgaged Nigeria to finish.”

@nasir_kilani: “Does Nigeria have police station in China? This is what happens when you’ve sold your birthright. If they must live here, why can’t they abide by the laws and regulations guiding the country? This is first step of colony.”

@iam_Chrystian: “To help us fight insecurity or what? This must be a joke sha.”
