1. Insecurity will end by December, FG assures Nigerians [NewsWireNGR]

The Federal Government (FG) has assured Nigerians that the insecurity bedevilling the country would be over by December.

Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola gave the assurance when he featured on the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Forum in Abuja.

The minster said that President Muhammadu Buhari had given December deadline for the security forces to restore order and stability in all parts of the country.

Aregbesola quoted Buhari as saying that he would not leave the country without curtailing and effectively addressing the security challenges. Read more.

2. Peter Obi supports the killings of gays – Fani-Kayode alleges [NewsWireNGR]

Femi-Fani Kayode (FFK) has accused Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi of supporting the killing of gays.

The Former Minister of Aviation made the accusation in a post on his Twitter page.

He said there is no doubt that Peter Obi’s Vice, Ahmed Datti supports the killing of gays in Nigeria.

”Peter’s running mate, Dati Ahmed, believes gays should be killed. No doubt Peter secretly shares his view.

”Killing people as a penalty for their sexual orientation & choices is a reflection of the fascistic & barbaric society that the Obidients want to foist on us. God forbid!” he tweeted on Sunday. Read more.

3. Gunmen kill APC youth leader in Enugu [NewsWireNGR]

Some unidentified gunmen have reportedly killed Hon. Lucky Okechukwu, the youth leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Igboeze South Local Government Area of Enugu State. 

Although details of the incident are still sketchy, it was gathered that Okechukwu was shot dead on Saturday night in Unadu town. Read more.

4. My EFCC exit was corruption fighting back  — Magu [NewsWireNGR]

Former EFCC Acting Chairman, Mr Ibrahim Magu has described his exit from the anti-corruption agency as corruption fighting back.

Magu made the assertion on Sunday in Abuja at an award ceremony organised in his honour by Northern Female Students Association.

“I am a victim of corruption fighting back; but I am happy that recent events are revealing the truth to Nigerians,’’ he was quoted by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

Magu who was represented by his son, Mr Mohammad-Saeed Ibrahim-Magu thanked the association for conferring on him the award of “Achiever per Excellence’’ and said that he was happy to receive the award. Read more.

5. MTN and Airtel Nigeria increased prices for internet data services by %10 [NewsWireNGR]

Two major telecommunications companies in Nigeria, MTN Nigeria Communications Plc and Airtel Nigeria, have increased prices for their internet data services by about 10 per cent.

Both companies confirmed the increase on their separate verified Twitter pages (@AirtelNigeria and @MTN180) in response to inquiries by their customers.

In the Nigerian National Broadband Plan 2020 to 2025, the Federal Government seeks to ensure cheaper data services in the country.

The government plans to achieve N1000 for 1Gb by 2023 and N390 for 1Gb by 2025. Read more.
