Unilorin Pro-Chancellor, Yazid-Rafindadi, is dead

The University of Ilorin (Unilorin) on Thursday announced the death of Malam Yazid Rafindadi, the Pro-Chancellor of the institution. 

Dr Fola Olowoleni, the Registrar of the university and Secretary to the Council, confirmed this in a statement quoted by NAN in Ilorin.

Rafindadi died after a brief illness on Thursday.

“This is to formally notify you of the demise of our beloved Council Chairman, Malam Abidu Rafindadi Yazid, OON, which sad event occurred at the early hours of Thursday, September 22.

“We pray God for the repose of his soul and God to grant him etemal rest. May God forgive his shortcomings and admit him into aljanah firdaus.

“The University community condoles with the family, emirate, Katsina State Government and the entire people of Katsina.

“We pray God to grant everyone the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss,” the statement read in part.

Meanwhile, the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has commiserated with the management of the University of Ilorin over the demise of its Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Malam Abidu Yazid -Rafindadi.

This is contained in a condolence message issued by Emir’s Spokesman, Mallam AbdulAzeez Arowona, on Thursday in Ilorin.

Sulu-Gambari described the deceased as a devout Muslim and thorough administrator, who served the nation diligently in different capacities.

He said he had had a long-standing relationship with Yazid-Rafindadi before his death,adding that he was shocked by his passing .

“On behalf of the entire members of Kwara Traditional Rulers Council, I heartily join members of the university community in commiserating with the families of late Rafindadi,the immediate and extended families,  government and good people of Katsina state over the colossal loss.

“May Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings, accept his good deeds and admit him into Al-Janatul Firdaus,” he said.

The emir prayed Allah to give the deceased’s family as well as the university community the fortitude to bear the loss.
